Sour – the Perfect Quarantine Cocktail
Now that I ran out of Campari, gin, and whatever wine I ordered, I was forced to mix drinks with “what I have.” Luckily, as long as I have lemons and table sugar, I can whip almost any drink (like rum, tequila, whiskey, gin) into an airy, refreshing sourness (like daiquiri, margarita, whiskey sour and hard candy).
The ratios and directions are the same for almost all alcoholic beverages. Just take 2 ounces of liquor, 3/4 ounces of fresh citrus juice, and 3/4 ounces of some sweetener, then shake until very cold. Try agave for tequila, honey syrup for gin, and just about everything else. If you want to add even more flavor to the sour taste, play with herbs, wine, and frozen fruit .
To create a unique cocktail bar atmosphere in your home, you can use half the egg white to make the lather so stable you can suck in. (Save the yolk for the dried egg yolks .) This is an extra step, but the results are very impressive and you deserve the experience.
