Tell Us How You Celebrate Special Occasions Now
Now that we’re all at home for a while, chances are good that you, a family member, or a friend celebrated at least one special occasion, which in Before Times was a party or a party. : Nice birthday with round numbers. Unusual anniversary dinner. Hen-party. Obviously, such gatherings – even small home gatherings! – no longer in maps. We’ve already covered how to make your child’s special day special right now . But adults need to let off some steam – and feel that their personal accomplishments matter too.
My birthday was in early April. Normally, I would invite a few friends over to a local bar for happy hour to celebrate, but instead I had a much bigger deal: a two-day “online festival”. I caught up with friends over a virtual beer by video chat, both individually and in small groups, and then planned several game nights during which we all played Cards Against Humanity and Mario Kart online.
To be honest, while this is not the birthday I would pick in the pre-pandemic era, I think I actually had a lot better than if I could actually go out. I have had the opportunity to spend time with many friends that I would not otherwise have seen. That was great.
If you do not like the game and the beer, there are also services such as Vemos and Netflix Party, which allow you to carry out a virtual movie night with friends to celebrate a big event. Houseparty is a great way to host a virtual party.
Gather all your friends together to perform a serenade with the words “Happy Birthday!” Over Zoom is becoming an increasingly popular choice. I’ve even seen people celebrate birthdays in a video game – someone is throwing a party on an island in Animal Crossing?
A close friend of mine has a birthday this week. As a gift, I sent him a Durdash gift card so that we can schedule a virtual dinner to celebrate the occasion.
All this means: you have several options. So what are you doing? Did you host Zoom game nights and group parties to celebrate these milestones, or did you come up with something completely different? Tell us what you are celebrating at home right now and how you are doing it.
