Refresh Your IPhone to Fix the Big FaceTime Problem

An unexpected iOS / iPadOS update dropped today, and while it doesn’t add any new features, it fixes an annoying bug that prevented some users on iOS / iPadOS 13.4 from FaceTiming people on devices running iOS 9.3.1, macOS 10.11.16 or other older ones. OS. Considering that we all rely on video chat these days more than ever, this kind of error is even more annoying than usual, especially if you are trying to stay in touch with family using old smartphones or computers.

The cause of the bug is not described in the patch notes, but iOS / iPadOS 13.4.1 seems to have fixed it anyway. Be sure to update your iPhone and / or iPad as soon as possible if you’re having trouble with FaceTiming on older Apple devices.

In addition to fixing FaceTime calls, the update also fixes a bug that made it difficult to enable Bluetooth via the Quick Actions menu. If you have an iPad Pro, there is one more additional fix:

Addresses an issue on iPad Pro 12.9 “(4th generation) and iPad Pro 11” (2nd generation) where the flashlight may not turn on after pressing the Flashlight button in Control Center or on the lock screen. “

This is the complete list of settings in the update – as I said, it’s pretty sparse, but if you’re delaying installing iOS / iPadOS 13.4 due to a FaceTime issue, you can now safely upgrade. For this:

  1. Go to Settings> General> Software Update.
  2. Click Download and Install.
  3. Wait for the update to complete and you’re done.
