T-Mobile Offers Subscribers Free Updates Now

The spread of the coronavirus affects not only the health of the population and the global economy; it also affects the Internet and cellular networks. With so many people stuck at home and others forced to leave their homes due to travel bans, data usage has increased, bandwidth is clogged and service disrupted worldwide.

All mobile operators of the Big Four are trying to help their customers financially by waiving late fees and promising not to stop service due to inability to pay (thanks to everyone related to the coronavirus). However, if you are a T-Mobile subscriber, you get some additional benefits.

First, T-Mobile is expanding its 600 MHz band to accommodate increased network usage. This also applies to clients from rural areas. In addition, T-Mobile customers will receive the following free updates to their services for at least the next 60 days:

  • All T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile plans are upgradeable to unlimited smartphone data (not including data roaming).
  • T-Mobile and Metro from T-Mobile will receive an additional 20 GB of mobile hotspot or data for a modem.

During this time, T-Mobile is also expanding some of its special programs. It includes:

  • Schools and students using T-Mobile’s EmpowerED programs will receive at least 20GB of data per month for the next 60 days.
  • Lifeline customers on T-Mobile will receive an additional 5GB of free data per month for the next two months.
  • Free international calls for all current T-Mobile and Metro customers from T-Mobile to affected Tier 3 countries .

Finally, T-Mobile is also helping Sprint customers driven out by the pandemic by giving Sprint users free roaming access for the next 60 days. This is an important step as regional quarantines and travel bans have left thousands of travelers in unresolved areas.
