College Students Who Need to Move Out Now Can Get 30 Days of Storage at U-Haul for Free
U-Haul is offering 30 days of free storage to all college students who have been suddenly forced out of their dorms by the pandemic.
The deal extends to all businesses owned and operated by U-Haul across the country. In order to take advantage of this deal, students must not be existing U-Haul customers and have a valid college ID.
U-Haul typically offers 30 days of free self-storage for disaster-affected communities. This is the first time this offer has been made across the country.
To take advantage of the deal, students will need to visit the local U-Haul warehouse and present their student ID. The promotion is (obviously) subject to availability, so if, for whatever reason, there are no storage units available at your local U-Haul office, you won’t be able to get them for free.
For students who just want to take their belongings home, U-Haul also offers Collegeboxes , a set of five boxes that students can send to them for free. Once the boxes are packed, students can contact U-Haul to pick them up and then ship them anywhere in the world or store them at the U-Haul facility.
Unlike storage, shipping of packaged boxes is not free. The cost of shipping boxes to the dorm through September is $ 45 per box.
