Most airlines are offering to waive replacement fees now, so that’s a $ 150 savings.
This is a great hack, but also a little risky if you do it the way a learning computer did. While most airlines will waive taxes, they will only do so once per ticket due to the coronavirus. So while you can still board this flight now, if the situation escalates and you are not interested in taking that flight, you will not be able to get a refund or change your second ticket.
The same goes for rebooking your flight after a few weeks. Right now, nobody knows what the future looks like in terms of coronavirus, so you can set yourself up for failure.
However, it is worth taking a look at any flights you plan to take a few days before departure to see if the price has dropped. If your flight is cheaper than what you paid for, you can try rebooking it.
