How to Prevent Spectrum From Calling or Sending You Junk Mail
Junk mail is something we all struggle with when we open our inbox every day. Especially now, in election season, I know that my personal mailbox is almost always filled to the brim with notes from promising political candidates, as well as standard credit card offers that I don’t need, and petitions from airlines, hotels and cable companies.
If one of the companies infiltrating your inbox is Spectrum, The Verge recently posted an article detailing how you can opt out of these pesky and overwhelming email programs.
Spectrum actually offers an online form that allows you to ask the company to no longer ask you to do anything. Yes, you can opt out of those phone calls and physical sales as well.
To do this, you can call Spectrum directly at 1-855-75-SPECTRUM and opt out by phone, or you can fill out an online form here . If you’ve ever tried to speak to a cable company on the phone, then you know that an online form is probably your best bet here.
To opt out, you will need to tell Spectrum your name, address, telephone number and email address if you also ask the company not to call or email you.
The opt-out service is available to both current customers and people who are not currently subscribed to Spectrum services. If you are a current customer, opt-out will not stop communicating about your account, it will just stop the company from trying to sell you additional services.
It also takes time. The Verge notes that it will take Spectrum 10 days to stop sending you emails, 30 days to stop calling, and up to 60 days to stop mailing you or show up at your door. So it’s not an instant solution, but it can help you get on your way to a lighter inbox and possibly fewer trade calls.
