How to Enable the Bonus Feature of the Hidden Drum Sequencer in Wear OS
Wear OS smartwatches have a fun little bonus feature. And while it probably won’t make you the next Deadmau5, it’s a fun way to cheer up friends or have some fun during the lingering moments before bed or on your daily commute.
For starters, you probably want to use the latest Wear OS . While this easter egg has been around for a while, it never hurts to make sure you are using the latest version of the OS on offer – just in case.
Then launch the Flashlight app on your smartwatch. Double tap the smart watch and hold your finger, after which some colors should flash on the watch and enter the drum loop mode. It might take a few tries to activate this as 9to5Google says the process can be a little hectic. When done correctly, it will look like this:
From there, by touching the various green, blue, and red circles, you can tweak the sounds in your mini-sequencer – drums, snares, bell (ofcourse ), and hi-hat. If you can’t hear anything, make sure you turn up the volume on your watch. And if, for whatever reason, you don’t have a speaker on your smartwatch, you’ll need to use Bluetooth to hear your beats.
Again, don’t expect it to create your next big dance hit, but it’s a fun way to get creative with it – fixed at 135 bpm – while you sit around. If you’re lucky, you may someday get a larger and more complex version to play on Android.
