USA Airports With the Best and Worst Food

There is a reason airport bars are so common is because the food is terrible. After all, no one likes a cold egg sandwich and watered-down coffee at 6 AM, and beer can make things a little better.

This week, folks at Wanderu , a travel booking platform, ranked the top 50 busiest airports in the US based on their share of “highly rated” dining options, comparing the total number of restaurants available to their Yelp reviews; According to Vanderu, three stars on Yelp means the restaurant is highly rated (no shitty coffee).

Nashville International Airport was ranked last, with no more than three stars out of 16 available catering options. Here is a review of Tootsie Orchid Lounge, one of the airport’s most popular restaurants, which currently has 2.5 stars: “Probably the ugliest food I’ve ever been served. There’s nothing better than a warm cup of coffee and a wet, cold, tasteless biscuit sandwich to cheer up. Even with regard to food at the airport, it was a joke. “

Also at the bottom were Louis Armstrong New Orleans International and Southwest Florida International, both of which have fewer restaurants, but due to Vanderu’s criteria, the more restaurants at the airport that do not receive a three-star rating, the lower the rating. it falls (which means Nashville is the worst because there are more terrible restaurants to choose from).

Meanwhile, Denver International Airport has been named the best airport for food; out of 51 restaurants, 19 received at least three stars, which I think is great for an airport! Dallas-Fort Worth and Atlanta-Hartsfield round out the top three, taking second and third places, respectively.

Of course, Yelp is a relatively narrow criterion on which the quality of airport restaurants is based; there people love to complain, and airports bring out the worst in all of us, which means that the platform can be particularly bad reviews. The list itself is also subjective. Some people may simply prefer to have more food options to choose from, even if they don’t all meet Yelp’s three-star ratings. In addition, due to the three-star standard, the rating does not accurately reflect the restaurants with the highest possible reviews. (For example, airports with restaurants that also have four- and five-star ratings would be given a higher rating.)

However, this list can be helpful for travel preparation when you are heading to an unfamiliar airport and are desperate for a bite to eat. Vanderu also has recommendations on where to eat in case you are staying at one of the top airports.
