All the Awards You Can Get From Apple Connected Gyms
Fitness tracking is one of the best benefits of the Apple Watch. This extra bit of data can help you focus on the excellent training, when you’re in the gym, but sometimes we need a little more motivation to really play sports – and there is no better motivation than money.
Apple launches a new program ” Connected exercise rooms ” in partnership with four gyms: Basecamp, Crunch Fitness, Orange Theory and the YMCA, each of which has several offices throughout the United States, although not all of them are involved. And as part of that, all participating gyms will launch new reward programs that are somehow related to Apple.
For example, you can earn discounts on gym memberships, classes, gift cards, and other offers that can be redeemed through Apple Pay by completing assignments in participating gyms, such as training a certain number of times in a row or attending classes.
The Connected Gyms program also allows prospective workout participants to sign up for classes or service memberships using their Apple Watch, iPhone, and iPad, as participating gyms will need to offer some kind of app that allows this. These gyms will also need to support GymKit in some way, which you can use to sync workout stats to your Apple Watch for more accurate logging.
But the rewards will probably be the most exciting part of the program, and here’s all you can earn across the four Connected Gym networks at launch:
- Basecamp: Workouts focused on getting your free Apple Watch Series 5 GPS navigator.
- Crunch Fitness: $ 3 to $ 4 weekly credit that you can use to pay your bill next month.
- Orange Theory: Apple and Nike gift cards.
- YMCA: More like a pay-in-advance program where your workouts open up free activities for kids who use the sports facilities.
Apple says more venues will be added in the future, and it’s unclear how sweet these awards might be for new gym chains that join them. Though probably not worth buying Apple Watch just to cash in on these deals, rewards program – it’s a nice bonus, which can make use of the gym more attractive (if you’re not a fan of Android).
