Fighting a Bad Winter With Basil & Gin Lemonade
We are firmly in the middle of a bad winter , a part of the year that is cold, damp and gray, with no warm seasonal mood to counterbalance the ill effects. I don’t know how to deal with the disease, but I have heard that sometimes drinking gin helps.
A bright and sunny gin cocktail can help even more, and the situation with lemonade with basil and gin is not only uplifting, but also surprisingly invigorating. A wholesome two ounces of botanical gin is complemented with a handful of fresh basil, then lightly soaked with an ounce and a half of lemonade, making it equally potent and drinkable – perfect for tackling the worst periods of a bad winter. To make it you will need:
- 2 ounces gin
- 1 1/2 ounce lemonade
- 10 fresh basil leaves and more to garnish
Add basil to a shaker and sink into oblivion. Add gin, lemonade and ice and shake until cool. Strain through a fine mesh strainer over a large stone and garnish with a couple of basil leaves.
