With This App, Quickly Create Customized Packing Lists Based on the Weather at Your Destination
I have flown over 150,000 miles last year. I also packed a lot of suitcases, carry-on luggage and bookbags in anticipation of these trips, sometimes hours and sometimes minutes before I left for the airport.
At some point a few years ago, I put together a basic packing list that made it all simpler. There are a number of things that I take with me on every trip. I made a list of these items and checked with them before going out the door for each trip to make sure I didn’t forget to throw everything in my bag. Think about things like medications, charging cables, my portable hotspot, and headphones. I would definitely recommend this practice.
One thing that is used on every trip is my clothes.
I live in San Francisco, where we have almost one season all year round. Whenever I travel, it means that I look for where I am going, what the weather will be like there, and then figure out what exactly I need to take with me in order to go there.
PackPoint is an application that can help. We wrote briefly about the app back in 2014 when it was new and only worked on Android and Blackberry phones. Six years later, it is available for iOS and contains a ton of new features for Android users.
At a basic level, the app asks you where you are traveling, when you are going and how long you are staying, and then makes a list of things for your trip based on what the weather might be like while you are. there.
He also asks a few questions about what you can do on your trip, such as skiing, relaxing on the beach or getting ready for a fancy dinner, and whether you will have access to laundry during your stay.
The $ 2.99 premium version integrates with TripIt and Evernote and lets you save your own activities like a business meeting or club party.
For me, sometimes the app is overkill in terms of what it prompts me to take with me, other times it offers an item that I absolutely want to take with me, like a hike insect spray, but it would probably be deleted from my list.
The packing lists can be customized for you and can also be shared with other people you are traveling with.
When it really comes time to pack, you can also tag items right from the list on your phone so you know you have everything.
This can be a great starting point when deciding what to pack on your big trip, and helps you keep those important things in mind.
