Stay Away From Public Servers in Fallout 76 Until This Hack Is Fixed
Holidays aren’t all that good for Fallout 76 PC players. The new MMORPG hack allows someone to steal everything in another player’s inventory, seemingly with one flick of a finger.
According to a video report fromJuicehead , ayoutuber who tracks the communities of Bethesda, the publisher of Fallout, the cheat works independently of Fallout 76’s player-to-player trading system, and hackers can target other players as soon as they get close enough to see you. Several players on the Reddit and Bethesda Fallout 76 forums are already reporting that their belongings have been stolen.
“I can confirm this is live, it’s just that all of my equipped items were stolen while I was at the suppliers,” wrote Reddit user WulfgarShotsfired . “3 stars [sic] legendary armor and weapons, leaving me naked. Didn’t know it was something until it happened, didn’t even get a Level 3 username. “
“Just wiped my entire inventory out of nowhere while I was at my camp, weapons, armor, everything was gone,” Mel81316 said on the Bethesda forums.
“I just got stripped of my best gear in the middle of an SBQ event, don’t work on public servers until it’s fixed,” replied Bethesda forum user Axton62 .
Last but not least, there is a video that seems to show the hack in action. The mostly naked player approaches the players and steals all of their belongings, including the armor from their backs.
Many of the reports come from players in Adventure mode, a less PvP-centric set of public servers, although there are also rumors that players may also be using a hack in Fallout 76’s new battle royale mode, nuclear winter.
For now, Fallout 76 fans looking to keep playing don’t have many options without fear of an accidental digital heist. If you or a friend you regularly play with has Fallout First , a premium subscription service to Fallout 76, you can start playing on private servers with up to seven friends. Fallout First costs $ 12.99 per month or $ 99.99 per year. You can also start over on PS4 or Xbox One if you have a console, as both versions are still hack-proof for all accounts.
Players are already urging Bethesda to temporarily provide all players with Fallout First until the hack is fixed, or at least give all players the ability to create their own personal worlds. As of Monday morning, Bethesda hasn’t publicly announced plans to do so.
“I hope Bethesda does something to take care of their [sic] PC players,” said Reddit user Mariekenna-photos . “Either providing access to private servers as mentioned by others, or hasty fixes or something. It also sucks that a lot of people will be afraid to participate in the holiday events until that too is corrected. “
I’m afraid the best players can do to protect their accounts is to take a short break from Fallout 76 until Bethesda responds with a fix or workaround. you will have more free time than usual for games.
