Add Speech to Text to Any Website With This Extension
If you’ve ever used a website and wanted to have voice input, you can now add it yourself.
Voice In is a Chrome extension that converts speech to text for almost any website. This means you can do things like reply to Slack messages or send emails using your voice rather than typing all the words.
This is not really a speakerphone. You will need to select the Start Recording option in the text box before you can start transcribing your voice, but once you do, it will work just about anywhere.
Like pretty much any other transcription product, it’s not perfect. You will have better results if you try to use it in quiet places with little background noise. Speaking slowly is always better than speaking quickly, and the more you say, the fewer problems you will face.
That said, if you’re someone who speaks better than they write, this is a quick and easy way to read a longer email or even a blog post that you can come back and tweak later to remove any strange typos or issues.
What’s more, the extension works in over 40 languages, so you can use it to test your pronunciation skills as you learn something new.
