These Are the Busiest Days for Flights During the Holidays.
If you’re flying home for the holidays, be prepared for any type of queue – the Advocacy Group at Airlines for America predicts that more than 47 million Americans will fly out in the days leading up to Christmas and by January 5, 2020. which is approximately 2.6 million passengers per day.
In its report, Airlines for America also predicted both the easiest and busiest travel days during the upcoming holidays. If you booked your flight on December 20th, according to A4A forecast, you should probably allow extra time to wait with security or otherwise risk being in danger while you catch your flight.
Below you will find both the best and worst days to fly according to the forecast :
The busiest
- Friday 20 December
- Saturday December 21st
- Friday December 27th
- December 26, Thursday
The easiest
- December 24, Tuesday
- December 31, Tuesday
- Wednesday December 25th
A4A expects that anymore, at least 300,000 people will fly on the busiest days, than the average for this period. (They also predict that U.S. airlines will soon be adding 844 flights a day just to meet demand.)
For the most part, the results are not too surprising given that the worst days are on weekends and the lightest on or around the holidays. However, if you are flying out early around Christmas, it might be worth dropping your checked baggage and checking in online to speed up the process.
