You Can Now Stereo Pair With Google Home and Google Home Mini Speakers
If you have a few chubby Google Home – Max speakers – or two brand new Nest Mini speakers from the company, then you’ve probably already tried their stereo pairing feature. Don’t be discouraged, though, if you’re still using the old-fashioned Google Home or Google Home Mini; your time has come. Nearly.
According to numerous reports, Google is unlocking the “stereo pair” feature for those who also own these older smart speakers. All you have to do is own two of them, and in theory any combination works. I also have a Google Home and a Google Home Mini and I hope that soon I can play my songs in stereo.
I say this with optimism as Google – as it always seems to be – is rolling out this feature. Both of my speakers are theoretically as updated as they’re going to get, and they’re even registered with Google’s previewer for new features. I don’t see stereo pairing capability anywhere, but others have had success .
If you want to check if stereo pairing is enabled for your speakers, open the Google Home app and tap on one of the matching speakers. Then click on the gear icon in the upper right corner.
Scroll down a bit and you should see a “Speaker Pair” option above “Decrease Listening Volume”. If you don’t, you don’t have this feature yet. Keep checking.
If you do, you can assign left and right speakers, and then you can assign a name to that pair to better determine which speakers you play music from when you yell at your Google Assistant. However, remember; now only the left speaker will listen to your voice commands, so do not shout (or whisper) softly into the right speaker. He doesn’t want to talk to you.
