Visit Apple’s Updated Privacy Site ASAP
I am committed to good data security, so it warms my heart when a major tech company like Apple takes steps to be even more transparent about our data . Specifically, I’m referring to Apple ‘s new landing page that makes it easier to view a company’s privacy policy and change security settings.
All Apple users should take a few minutes to review the company’s privacy information and save this site for future reference. While Apple is not immune to criticism about how it handles user data, its website does a lot to educate users about how the company typically handles your information. Its website contains links to various Apple privacy policies, shortcuts to privacy settings, and general explanations of how it processes your data for the following core apps and services:
- Apple ID
- App Store
- Apple News
- Apple Pay / Wallet
- Health Tracking Apps
- iMessage
- Maps and location data
- Photos
- Safari
- Siri
- Plus other helpful links and shortcuts.
While it doesn’t appear that Apple has made any significant changes to its privacy policy, its redesign at least has organized this important information into a more navigable website. Of particular interest is Apple’s Manage page, which presents various settings and features you can use to customize your devices’ privacy settings to your liking.
