Upgrade Your Networking Solutions, Register.com. or Web.com Password Now
If you’ve ever purchased a domain name from Network Solutions, Register.com, or Web.com, you’ll want to change your password as soon as possible. Domain registrars announced the data breach in August 2019.
In emails, the company explained to its customers that they learned about the hack in October 2019. Although no credit card details were used, account information could have been disclosed. This information may include names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and order details.
Web.com owns Network Solutions and Register.com. A Web.com spokesperson told Krebs on Security this week that account passwords are encrypted and not supposed to have been compromised.
All clients will need to reset their passwords just in case. An email from Network Solutions explains that “affected customers” are notified by email and on its website.
It hurts to change your account details for a website that you can only access occasionally (for example, when you have a “great idea” for a website and then sit on a domain name for the next five years … no names, no names). But if you are still using Password123! For any of your online accounts, we have a guide to keeping you safe online . Admit it, it’s probably time for you to upgrade.
