Don’t Yell at the Popeyes Staff About the Sandwich
Yesterday saw the return of the highly publicized Popeyes chicken sandwich, and people quickly lost their marbles. While I understand what it is like to be agitated by a once scarce food item (hello Taco Bell chips), I urge – no, I beg – everyone, please relax.
The sandwich, ostentatiously reissued on Sunday, immediately caused chaos. According to CNN (and Twitter sandwich lovers), the queues “ stretched out to the streets, ” and I saw several videos on the Internet in which people behave very inappropriately towards workers. I understand this is a delicious sandwich, but there is no scenario where yelling at the Popeyes staff (or any fast food worker) would be an acceptable move. Even if you wait a few hours in line and find that they sold the last sandwich to the person in front of you, even if they seem to move very slowly, even if they forget your pickles – none of these cases guarantee you (an adult) to scream on a restaurant employee for a sandwich . Even with the promised additional staff (of two at the restaurant), the sandwich’s virality meant that its return would never be easy for the workers, and I wouldn’t be surprised if some are still recovering the first time around. – around . If long lines infuriate you, perhaps avoid the line until everything dies down, or make your own damn sandwich .
