Personal Lists Are the Best Way to Stay Organized on Twitter
I admit I love using Twitter lists. While it is “easy” to just flip through a normal feed in your Twitter app, the process annoys me for two main reasons: it always reverts to “best tweets” instead of a chronological feed, which is frustrating, and I keep seeing random promoted tweets in my feed. Fur.
However, if you put your most important accounts on a private list – you get 5000 accounts per list and 1000 lists per Twitter account – then by default they will always appear in chronological order. And as an added bonus, you won’t see any promoted tweets either.
Back side? If you follow a huge number of people, trying to include them all on the list will be tricky. You will have to go through their profiles one by one and add them, which in itself may prompt you to cut back on the number of people you follow. Twitter-dot-com doesn’t have a great way to add people you follow to lists in bulk.
It’s also a good idea to consider adding new ones to the list the moment you decide to subscribe to them. At the very least, this is a great way to keep your followers organized. And if you use multiple Twitter Lists to organize your Twitter life (or you just have so many people you follow), it’s easy to switch between them. All you have to do is swipe left and right on the app’s home screen to quickly switch between numerous lists.
