How to Share Chrome Browser Tabs Across Devices

Google is finally releasing a handy new tool for sharing Chrome tabs across devices. Sharing tabs between devices has been in Chrome Canary builds for several months, but now it seems to be available for many users in stable desktop and mobile versions. We’ll show you how to enable settings and share tabs on both desktop and mobile.

Before we start, you need to be signed in on all the devices you want to share pages on. You should also make sure that the latest version of Chrome is installed on all your devices. You will know there is an outdated update if you see a colored warning icon in the upper right corner of your browser window.

Sending tabs from the desktop

  1. In Chrome, highlight the URL of the page you want to share, click the laptop icon, and select the device to share. Alternatively, you can right-click a website and select send to [device].
  2. A popup will warn you that the page is being submitted. After a few seconds, you will receive a notification on the other device that you can tap / click to open the page.

Sending tabs from mobile Chrome

  1. Open the Chrome mobile app.
  2. Tap the icon with three folded dots.
  3. Click Share.
  4. In the sharing menu, click Send to Your Devices.
  5. Click to select the device you want to send to.
  6. The notification will appear on the other device after a couple of seconds. Click / tap it to open the general page.
