In September, Let’s Ride Our Bicycles
We’ve already done running and swimming, so let’s focus our September fitness challenge on cycling. If you don’t have a bike, don’t worry – indoor cycling is allowed. Today we have some tips for newbies.
If you want to try indoor cycling, a group activity is a good place to start. Instructors can help you set up your bike correctly – be sure to come to class early and explain that you are a beginner (or that you have not been in a long time). It’s better to take the time to ask questions than to feel ignorant and uncomfortable for an hour while everyone else seems to know what they are doing.
If you have a bike but haven’t ridden it in a while, get it out and tune it. We have a guide on how to get the job done yourself , or you can take it to your local bike shop. Before placing your life in his hands, make sure everything is in working order.
Maybe you live in a city and think you decide to challenge yourself by cycling, or maybe you just take your bike more often on random errands. We have guidelines for safe cycling in urban areas , and most of the guidelines apply to other types of terrain as well.
If you want to buy a new bike, we will help you . So tell us: how will you celebrate this cycling September?
