How to Stream Apple Music to Chromecast From Android
Here’s an exciting development that most people (myself included) probably never thought of: you can now stream Apple Music directly to Google Chromecast from your Android device.
If this sounds too simple, don’t worry; there is a nuance. Right now, this feature is only present in the latest beta of Apple Music, so those using the regular version of the app will need to make a few changes before you can stream your music:
- Sign up for the beta version of the Apple Music app for Android on the Google Play store.
- Once you’ve joined, you need to wait for the app to update to beta. This could have happened automatically; this can also be delayed. If you haven’t seen the update on the Google Play store, consider resetting your device, rechecking, and patiently waiting otherwise.
Once your app is updated to beta, you can stream music from Apple Music to Chromecast.
- To stream Apple Music to Chromecast, you need to be within reach of a Chromecast or Chromecast equipped device. In the Apple Music app, tap the Cast icon (it looks like a short rectangle with a Wi-Fi signal in the bottom left corner).
- Select the Chromecast device you want to use, and after a few seconds, the music should start playing on the connected device.
- You can continue to use your phone and control playback in the Apple Music app as usual, even while streaming.
This is a great update for those of us who have shared a large share of smartphones. It is still important to remember that beta software may not be compatible. If you notice any glitches, bugs or compatibility issues, you can use the same beta link above to revert to the regular version of the app.
