Install IOS 13.1 Beta to Restore These Missing IOS 13 Features
iOS 13.0 is n’t even out yet , and it’s time to start testing iOS 13.1. This new version of iOS is definitely worth checking out as it adds a number of features that Apple has removed from various versions of iOS 13.
Here’s a quick overview of what you can expect if you opt for the iOS 13.1 beta test. (If you don’t see the upgrade option yet and are in public beta, consider upgrading to a developer beta ):
Fast Access Automation is back
It was annoying that they fell out of sight somewhere around iOS 13 beta 5 (if I’m right) because being able to automate your shortcuts is an incredibly useful premise. For example, you can turn smart lighting on (or off) if you connect to or disconnect from CarPlay – or, for that matter, when you connect to your home Wi-Fi network. I like the setting even more than geozones (which tends to be triggered when I go on the road near my house, but I do not go to the house).
There are tons of different automation triggers you can choose from, and you bet I’m going to play around with most of them to find all sorts of wacky shortcuts. I missed you, Automation tab; never leave us again.
Siri options now work
I look forward to seeing many application developers enjoy this feature. Basically, when you ask Siri to do something, you can now receive customized responses, allowing you to provide more detailed information or context if you weren’t specific enough in your initial statement. For instance:
I will give Spotify a million dollars if they enable this feature in their app. Right now, Spotify is picking from my request any song, album, or playlist it thinks I want (for example, if multiple albums have similar names). I’d rather have a list of options to choose from in case of ambiguity, if it’s even possible to do so using Siri options.

Boo-bam. Take a look at the entire range:
Share your estimated arrival time … again
Activate driving directions in Apple Maps, then swipe up from the little gray bar above minutes and miles (not the giant white bar at the bottom of your phone) and you’ll see the option to share your estimated arrival time with friends again. Activate it and they’ll receive automatic messages when you get close to your destination, a feature that I loved very much in iOS 13 and was sad to see that it was removed (even temporarily).
Exchange audio to two Bluetooth headsets at once
We covered this feature earlier , so here’s a quick overview. If you have a specific device running iOS 13.1 – pretty much an iPhone 8 or newer, or one of the many iPads – you can exchange audio between two different Bluetooth headsets at the same time. However, this list is limited to Apple’s AirPods or Beats by Dre Powerbeats Pro Wireless Headphones. Connect both in your BlueTooth settings and they both can hear the same audio from the same device.
You may soon be able to install alternative fonts
Tap Settings> General> Fonts and you’ll see a curious hint:
We’re intrigued. Perhaps we only have a few weeks left before we can use Comic Sans on our iPhones, right?
Right click on the connected mouse to activate long press or 3D Touch
First, set up the mouse you can use to control your iOS device – accessible through Settings> Accessibility> Touchscreen> AssistiveTouch by enabling AssistiveTouch and then clicking Devices under Devices- pointers ”and selecting a Bluetooth mouse. Now you can assign 3D Touch or long press on the right mouse button.
