How to Delete Multiple Android Messages at the Same Time
Android Messages version 4.7 was released this morning and the new update adds the long-awaited ability to delete multiple messages in a conversation thread. It’s a great, handy add-on, and it’s also odd that Android messaging took so long to get a feature that seems pretty common elsewhere.
For those who don’t know, Android Messages is the default messaging app on many Android phones, although some OEMs include their own proprietary service (like Samsung Messages on Galaxy devices). For those who already have Android messages installed, the new version should automatically download and install when it’s available to you, but you can also manually download the latest version of the app from the Google Play Store .
Once you’ve installed and updated the Messages app, batch uninstalling is as easy as shelling pears:
- Open the Messages app.
- Select a chat topic.
- Press and hold a message to highlight it.
- Tap any additional messages you want to delete.
- Tap the trash can icon in the menu bar at the top of the app screen to delete messages.
It’s a simple process, but it’s good to see that this feature has finally been added. In fact, Google has beefed up Messaging over the past year with a host of new features, including support for RCS , which is phasing out SMS as the new standard for text messaging technology.
