Use the Google Assistant to Remind Your Family of Upcoming Events
When you’re an organized person in your family, or the only one keeping an eye on an ever-expanding to-do list, it can feel like your day is filled with texting and jotting down notes for your loved ones not to. Do not forget what you have already forgotten about. Who needs it? Luckily for all of us, technology has come to the rescue. Google Assistant can now send notifications to your kids, spouse, or anyone else in your family group – the only requirement is they have their own Google account synced to the family group.
To get started, go to the family group portal to create and add members to your family group (you’ll need to create Google accounts for those who don’t already have one). Using your Google account name, you can create reminders with voice commands such as:
“Ok Google, remind [name] that baseball practice is at 4:30 pm” or “Set a reminder for [name] that we’re planning a family dinner on Sunday.”
This feature also works with the Family Link app and to send bedtime reminders and screen time limits . Google Assistant will turn your commands into notifications, which will then be sent to smartphones, tablets and smart home devices that are signed in to the specified person’s Google account. The user will receive a notification both at the time the notification is created and again within the requested reminder time.
