How to Keep a Pencil From Rolling
If you know me, you know that I hate it when things roll back . Things that roll back slow me down and make me pick them up. It’s inconvenient and I’m used to the easy life.
So naturally, when my editor-in-chief introduced hacking into Slack to prevent pencil rolling , I was in awe. If that’s not an issue you need to tackle, you may be more of a handle for the handle – the handles have caps with pointed parts to keep them from rolling. But the people who do the handy things, or the people who simply prefer the smooth grayness of graphite, know this struggle all too well. (Unless they’re using these flat carpenter’s pencils, which are pretty good too.)
Anyway, you can probably tell from the photo above, but all you have to do to make the pencil less prone to rolling is to wrap a small piece of tape around it so the tape sticks out like a small flag. The tape stops curling before it starts curling and the pencil remains on the table.
