I live abroad from my family, which, among other things, has made it difficult for me to provide technical support to my parents and various friends. Several years ago, I started recording my screen to explain how to do more complex tasks. This week I came across a tool that makes screen recording insanely simple: Scrnrcrd .
Unlike many other screen recording tools that require loading, the screen recorder works right in your browser. All you have to do to record is launch the site and click the record button.
As with many other screen recorders, you can record your entire desktop, one app, or one Chrome tab.
When you do this, the site will start recording whatever you have selected. To stop it, you go back to the “Scrnrcrd” tab on your computer and click “Stop”. That’s all.
Your recording is instantly available for download to your computer, after which you do things like email it to your nosy parents or upload it to YouTube.
It’s very simple, and if you need to record silently in the field, this can be a great tool to carry in your back pocket.
