These Are the Best Airports in the USA
Anyone who travels a lot can tell you that the airports you fly to (and through) can often improve or ruin your journey. It is known that I deliberately booked slightly longer travel days to avoid connecting at a terrible or difficult airport. Living in the Bay Area, I can afford the luxury of having multiple airports to choose from when I book my flight.
But this is a luxury that most people don’t have. For the most part, the airports you need to use are determined by where you are coming from and where you are going (and the cost of that flight).
However, it’s always good to know where the best spots are, just in case you have multiple options when it comes to this stop. The Points Guy recently made a rundown of the best and worst airports in the United States, taking into account things like airport amenities and how often flights leave on time.
Here are his top ten:
- San Diego International Airport
- Phoenix Skyharbor International Airport
- Portland International Airport
- Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport
- Sacramento International Airport
- Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
- San Francisco International Airport
- Norman Mineta San Jose International Airport
- Indianapolis International Airport
- John Wayne Airport
JFK, Dallas, Fort Worth and SFO received top honors for airport amenities, while Portland, Honolulu and Seattle-Tacoma received top honors for on-time flights.
As for the worst airport, that honor goes to the Chicago Midway International Airport, which has an extremely limited choice of restaurants, only one lounge, and is very difficult to reach from downtown Chicago.
