Use Alexa to Gift a Backpack to a Child in Need
Amazon, Alexa and Shaquille O’Neill are teaming up this month to donate backpacks filled with school supplies to children in need. If you have Alexa at home, you can say, “Alexa, donate for a happy school year ” to get involved.
After you say “Alexa, donate for the happy school year,” you will be prompted to confirm donation for a backpack worth up to $ 25 that is suitable for children of all ages. Amazon will then ship your donated backpack to Communities in Schools (CIS) , a nonprofit that supports at-risk students. Amazon will provide the first $ 200,000 in backpack donations, filling donated bags with school supplies such as pens, pencils, rulers and notebooks.
Shaq is a member of the CIS national board of directors and is expected to partner with Amazon and Zappos for Good’s Shaq-to-School programs to provide 5,000 students with new backpacks and supplies.
Customers cannot select specific backpacks to donate; Alexa pre-selects the packages and gives donors a short description and price before confirming the purchase.
The program runs until September 9th.
