How to Remove Stubborn Stickers From Dishes
Stubborn sticky price stickers and leftovers can ruin a beautiful dish, and in stores it always seems like they are sticking them right in the center of the plate (or bowl, or tray). If you’re lucky, they come off in one piece, leaving behind a patch of glue that can be easily scraped off with your fingernail. But the more common scenario is when they cling to the surface, coming off in small pieces.
The solution is simple (like all good solutions): Apply some heat. You can go the lazy route and soak the dish in very hot, soapy water, or you can take a more direct approach and blow up the sticker with a hairdryer, like Queen Martha Stewart does in the Instagram video above. You need to get close to the nozzle – well, about a quarter of an inch from the plate – and hold it there for about half a minute. Check if it peels off easily and repeat if necessary. If there is any sticky residue, wipe it off with an eraser and then wipe off the residue with soap.
