How to Keep Your Egg From Rolling Away
Eggs love to do two things: roll and break. It’s uncomfortable at best and messy at worst, but all the tumbling and splitting can be avoided with an old plastic drink lid.
A plastic lid, such as the one you find on a bottle of Gatorade or 7-Eleven brand fruit punch, is perfect for storing a naughty egg. I keep mine next to the stove so that the egg can wait while I melt butter, fry bacon, make a bowl of ramen, or cook and cook any other dish the egg is intended for. This saves me the hassle of leaving a whole box of eggs (which I usually don’t have room in my tiny kitchen) or rushing to the refrigerator to take out an egg just before it’s needed. It’s also a great use for a piece of plastic that you would otherwise have to recycle.
