Find Out If Apple Has Recalled Your MacBook Pro
If you purchased a MacBook Pro at some point between 2015 and 2017, you should probably double check to see if it spontaneously spawned.
Or, as Apple says , “Apple has determined that in a limited number of older 15-inch MacBook Pros, the battery could overheat and pose a fire hazard.”
Apple has posted a review of the MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015) version of its popular laptop. The easiest way to find out if your MacBook Pro is affected is to open the Apple support page and enter your laptop’s serial number into the company’s little tool. You can find your MacBook Pro serial number in any number of ways:
- By going to Apple menu> About This Mac
- Opening the System Information Application
- On the underside of the laptop
- On the original packaging next to the barcode
If your laptop is damaged, you will have to part with it for one to two weeks while the company replaces its battery. In other words, this is not something the Apple Store will be able to clarify overnight. You can, however, take your laptop to the Apple Store and they will send it in for a replacement battery. Apple Authorized Service Provider can do the same, or you can just send your laptop in the mail yourself – after you go to the service of Apple support, to begin this process.
