Best Artificial Grill Sausage

Fake meat discourse tends to center around hamburgers, with their seemingly impossible meaty texture and pink centers. But patties are not the only form offered by supernatural meat producers – they also come in sausage-like tubes.

It happens sometimes. Not all dogs are created equally remotely equal, and some breeders do a much more convincing job than others. When choosing a fake sausage, the parameters are almost the same as when choosing a real sausage, although the standards are slightly biased. Texture, taste, and stylish body are key factors, and only one (out of six) suggestions I’ve tried even come close to the real thing.

For the taste test, I took two flavors (Italian and classic Bratwurst) from three manufacturers: Beyond Meat , Tofurky, and Field Roast . Each was cooked in a nonstick skillet for seven minutes, until browned on each side. Both Beyond and Tofurky could go directly from packaging to skillet, but Field Roast sausages had an inedible plastic shell that had to be removed, which I found uncomfortable.

Real feeling

All three foods retained their shape during cooking, although they needed to be handled with care as they were slightly more sluggish than your standard sausage. In terms of texture, only the Beyond sausage had a shell that offered any pleasant resistance, and it was small. It also had a firm texture similar to real sausage, although the “meat” felt a little overground. However, the samples of tofurka and field fried were just tubes of peelless gruel. (I didn’t take pictures of them, because their sight upset me, to be honest!) I also appreciated that the Beyond sausage smudged like a real one, leaving behind a small pool of melted fat.

Winner: Both Beyond Meat sausages for their lifelike firm texture, light crunch and lifelike fat accumulation.

Tasting notes

When it came to taste, the Beyond brand was once again dominant. The other two had a strong wheat gluten flavor, and the seasonings for both the sauces and the Italian links were increased to try and hide this. The sausage-like Beyond sausage was very bland, almost tasteless, and while it didn’t resemble a real jerk to me, it didn’t taste like wheat gluten, soy, or any other commonly used meat substitute. He didn’t scream meat, but it does n’t look like meat either.

And then there was a spicy fight. While it wasn’t as firm and greasy as real sausage (obviously), Hot Italian Beyond Sausage came almost unsettlingly close. It was warm enough to arouse but not darken, and was pleasantly salty with lots of meaty minds, solving the problem of his naughty sister’s softness. In fact, I was drunk on a barbecue and someone handed me one of these meatless pipes, I don’t think I doubt the source of the protein, although I can complain that the grind was a little good.

Winner: Beyond Meat Hot Italian Sausage for lack of gluten flavor, great spices and savory, meaty qualities.

Will they replace my favorite meatless grill option – cheese ? Probably not, the cheese is not vegan. In terms of barbecue-friendly vegan food, this spicy sausage is insanely close, especially when stacked with fried onions.
