How to Register As a Blood Donor on Facebook
When the hospitals run out of blood, there is no way to just order more – the blood banks have to inform volunteers like you and me who might want to donate blood. Facebook is now rolling out blood donation in multiple US cities that can notify you when your blood type is needed in your area.
The feature was already available in India, Brazil, Bangladesh and Pakistan, where a total of 35 million people have signed up to donate blood. You can now sign up for donations in Chicago, New York, San Francisco Bay Area, Baltimore and Washington DC, with more US cities coming soon.
To register, go to your profile and click “About” and then “Donating blood”. Then the nearest blood donation centers will be able to send you notifications when blood is most needed.
