How to Access the New and Redesigned Dropbox Desktop App Now
Dropbox on Tuesday announced a new unified version of its desktop app, which the company is calling “the new Dropbox.”
Dropbox describes it as a one-stop workplace solution that can help you organize content, connect tools, and bring teams together.
The app brings cloud content and traditional files together in one place, so you can create, access and share content from services like Google Docs and Sheets, as well as Microsoft Office.
You can also create and store shortcuts to websites along with your content in Dropbox, such as a link to a Trello board or Slack channel, and search all of your content at once using a single search box.
Along with the new desktop app, Dropbox announced new integrations with Slack, Zoom and Atlassian to make these tools smoother.
If you are a Dropbox user, the new Dropbox will not automatically appear for you yet. If you’d like to test it out, the company offers an early access program that you can host on their website .
Subscribing to this program will also bring more benefits than announced today. Dropbox says it plans to roll out additional features in the coming weeks.
As you play around with it, there is also a Send Feedback button in the bottom right corner of the page that you can use to share how the update works (or doesn’t work) for you in practice.
This means that if things are not working across the board, this will likely change before the update goes mainstream.
