Do Simpler Versions of Pull-Ups and Push-Ups in the Playground
If it’s been a long time since you could climb the monkey bars, playgrounds may seem like they don’t offer many upper body workout options. But if you find medium-sized barbells, pay attention to these movements.
Push-ups with arms raised
Like our staircase push-ups, playground push-ups can make movement a little easier than off the floor (or allow you to do more reps). Grasp any convenient height bar with your hands and do so. The higher the bar, the easier it is to do push-ups.
Reversed lines
These ranks are cousins of pull-ups. You keep your feet on the ground, maintain a plank position if you can, and pull your chest up to the bar. They’re easier than pull-ups because your legs are supported.
Make it easier by using a higher bar or railing (so that most of your weight is on your feet), or harder by using a lower bar. Any grip is normal! Here I didn’t have enough room to move until I turned sideways.
