Analyze Your Immersive Videos With the “iron Track”

The most effective way to lift a weight is to raise it and then lower it. Sounds simple, right? But sometimes we find it difficult to move our bodies in the right way in order to achieve this. If your coach is constantly talking about how your plank is going, there is now an app that will show you exactly what that means.

An app called Iron Path is free for iOS, but the free version can only analyze three videos. Unlimited upgrade costs $ 3.99. To use it, import the video into the app and drag the small circle (“mask”) to the end of the weight. Then wait for the app to do wonders.

When you play the video, it is as if the rod has a magic pencil at the end and draws a line in the air. You can tell if your bar is straight (or what kind of bar it is for the lift you are doing), and if not, where you are going wrong. Here’s an example where I’m basically doing the lift correctly: it’s a deadlift, and my barbell trajectory goes straight up and down:

Great! Now, just to face it, here’s an example of an elevator that I screwed up on. In this overhead press, the bar arches as I move it in front of my face, but the trainer tells me I need to adjust my torso angle so that the bar comes up straight.

Iron Path is not a substitute for coaching advice, but it comes in handy when you just need the facts: where does your barbell bar actually go? Now you know.
