You hear a lot about how to change habits – it will take you 21 days! You will have to make small changes before you can make big changes! Reward yourself! Give up yourself! Clench your teeth! Just do it!
You’re trying all of these things, but you’re still trying to get a full gym routine. Are you still smoking, or eating in front of the TV, or sleeping later than you want, or lashing out at your spouse, or biting your nails, or [enter your own frustrating / shameful / rebellious habit here].
We wanted to find out how you can actually change behavior, what methods suggested by productivity experts, psychologists and friendly colleagues actually work.
To this end, we talked with Chris Bailey , author of “The Year of productivity” and “Giperfokus” five steps to getting rid of the habit. James Clear , author of Atomic Habits , helped us understand how our friends can sabotage our efforts to change.
