What Is the Difference Between Baby and Infant Tylenol?

If you’ve ever had to buy pain reliever for a little one, you’ve probably noticed that there are separate bottles for the Baby and Infant products. In the case of acetaminophen (Tylenol), the contents of the vials are the same.

But before they were different. Until 2011, the infant version had to be dispensed with a pipette, and the children’s version had to be dosed with spoons. This means that the infant version was more concentrated. The infant dosage has been changed to the same dosage as the infant dosage (160 mg / 5 ml), so now you cannot mix them and give the wrong dosage.

As a result, acetaminophen is the same thing for babies and children. NPR reports that acetaminophen for babies still costs three times as much, ostensibly because packaging for babies is more expensive. But even if you prefer a drip, you can save a few dollars by refueling with the cheaper children’s version.
