Create a Separate Packing List When Traveling Overseas
I have at least six different packing lists saved as notes on my iPhone: one for long weekends, others for emergencies, and one specifically for long flights.
While I probably overdid it, here’s a little tip: if you are planning multiple trips in the near future, do yourself a favor and create at least two separate packing lists: one in which you are going abroad and one for domestic travel, as u suggested / Delicious_tomato on Reddit .
By its nature, traveling abroad requires essentials that are usually unnecessary when you are staying locally, especially in areas where you may not have immediate access to medications, adapters, or an English dictionary. While abroad, I have to consider things like prescription drugs, which in an emergency I may not be able to get from an international pharmacy if they run out or I lose them.
Make two lists right now to save time and avoid the mistake of forgetting your passport when you rush to the airport in a cold sweat. Better yet, if you travel frequently for work, prepare vacation lists rather than any work-related travel; for the latter, you will probably need a more formal outfit.
