What Is the Best Outdoor Activity in Your City?
In New York, we have Shakespeare in the Park, Mermaid Parade, the weekly food court in Smorgasburg, Socrates Yearbook, Summer Streets, Rooftop Movies and my favorite annual Brooklyn Book Festival at Borough Hall … Albuquerque hosts the Balloon Festival. The Three Rivers Regatta is held in Pittsburgh. Rochester, NY, hosts the Lilac Festival. Port Aransas, Texas hosts the Texas SandFest. San Francisco hosts a Valentine’s Day pillow fight and a Big Wheel race. New Orleans is an outdoor event.
What are the most open-air festivals, concerts, food courts and other events in your city? How do you deal with the crowd, find a better spot, stay full, watered, and cool? How do you like to participate and what is your afterparty? Is there a good outdoor event without the crowd?
And just to spill blood into the water: what’s the worst outdoor event? In New York, it could be San Gennaro, a traditional celebration of fifty identical fried dough stands. But only if you do not consider Santacon street.
