Update Netflix App If You Have Android Battery Problems
If your Android device has had less than stellar battery life in the past few weeks, Netflix may be the culprit.
Tech company Mobile Enerlytics discovered this week that the Netflix app running in the background on some Android phones is causing serious battery issues. For example, on a Nexus 6 running Android 6.0.1, the phone’s battery drained more than 20% during idle overnight, according to BGR .
As it turned out, a number of users reported similar problems from April to December last year.
The issue appears to only affect devices running Android 6.0.1, but that’s still 17% of Android users.
Fortunately, there is a simple solution to the problem: update the app. The latest version of the Netflix app, 7.8.0, fixes the problem, so if you have any problems, the best and easiest solution is to simply download the fix.
