Use IOS 12.3 to Download HBO Shows for Offline Watching
The most recent iOS update is here, and version 12.3 of Apple’s mobile operating system brings a few changes to AirPlay and the Apple TV app that are worth checking out. Here’s how to make the most of them:
Apple TV channels and app redesign
The Apple TV app has undergone user interface changes to include several new features, most notably the new Apple TV Channels feature that allows users to subscribe to premium third-party services like HBO, CBS All Access, or Showtime without the need to create additional accounts. records or applications. Apple TV subscriptions can also be shared with up to six family members on the same account. Services available through Apple TV channels at launch include:
- Acorn tv
- CBS Full Access
- Cinemax
- Comedy Central now
- EPIX
- HBO
- Historical Channel Storage
- Nickelodeon
- Mubi
- Show time
- Smithsonian Institution
- Sundance
- Starz
- Taste
Along with the new channels, there have been a lot of UI updates. The Apple TV app will now provide personalized content suggestions and suggestions for Apple TVs or AirPlay 2 TVs on which you can watch your shows. These personalized touches also include dedicated locations for carefully curated lists of content, such as sections for kids and sports, as well as the ability to buy and rent any Apple TV content right in the app.
Plus, the Apple TV app is now the only place (at the time of this writing) where you’ll be able to download HBO content for offline viewing if you’ve subscribed through Apple TV channels. It would probably have been handy a few weeks ago at the start of the Game of Thrones season rather than the end, but at least you can go back and have some good episodes without wasting valuable data.
All of these changes can be found in the Apple TV app after updating to iOS 12.3.
New AirPlay 2 Features
iOS 12.3 also adds some handy new features to AirPlay 2. You can now automatically play content from your iPhone or iPad on connected AirPlay 2 TVs. The new One Touch Play feature will also remember the last AirPlay 2 device you streamed to. therefore, you can start playback without selecting the display device each time. Siri now includes AirPlay as an option when looking for how to watch movies or TV shows.
Other changes in iOS 12.3
As with any OS update, iOS 12.3 fixes a few bugs that have given users headaches lately, and should be pointed out quickly. Here are the major bug fixes from the official release notes:
- You can now follow the magazine from the Apple News + directory browsing.
- Apple Music will now update the For You tab several times a day.
- Additional fixes for Apple TV Remote not receiving input, Wi-Fi call interruptions, and song metadata not showing when listening through a connected car stereo.
How to install iOS 12.3
Compatible iOS devices running iOS 12.2 should automatically update to 12.3, but if you haven’t received the update yet or don’t have automatic updates enabled, you can go to Settings> General> Software Update> Check for Availability software updates ” to make sure a new version is available on your device. If there is, the update will download and install in the background, although you will need to restart your device as soon as this is done to apply the update.
