Exercise by Walking Around the Airport While Stopping
Airports are huge (at least in big cities) and that’s often what we hate about them. Baggage claim how far ?? But if you have time to kill, consider using the vastness of the airport to your advantage. Go through this whole damn thing and time it out.
This is what sleep specialist Chris Winter did recently , traveling the entire Philadelphia airport in just over an hour at a brisk pace of 3:44 pm. He told us via DM that he does so at other airports, even challenging others to buy him time:
Dr. Winter says he started going to the airport just to get back on his feet. “Since I travel a lot, there were days when I had the only chance to train on a transplant,” he says. Then he found that the resulting cards (if you’re using a fitness tracker) looked pretty cool. If you want to experience the challenge on his way, Dr. Winter offers the following rules:
- Not to run. No other traveler or airport employee should know that you are doing this. Thin.
- Must start and end in the same place. This is a loop, not one end to the other.
- Bags are included. No bullshit about lockers.
- No shuttles, but motorized walkways are absolutely allowed (although they can backfire when crowded).
The motorized walkway rule seems to be controversial, but he says it “looks like some kind of reinforcing element in Mario Kart.”
It doesn’t matter if you are traveling around the airport or just walking quietly, walking the entire route is a great way to exercise and relieve boredom while waiting for your flight to depart.
