Introduce Your Child to More YouTube Game Streamers
One of our readers emailed us with an interesting problem: he is the father of three boys, ages 6, 10 and 12, and they enjoy watching game streamers on YouTube, but all the gamers they watch are white guys. Guys like DanTDM and Ninja create fantastic content that kids really enjoy, but they do it from a white person’s perspective and don’t represent the diversity that exists among people who actually play games. YouTube’s “recommended” algorithm offers a little help as it tends to serve videos like the ones you already watch (more white guys in this case), so I’ve compiled this list of five awesome game streamers who are not straight, white. men but suitable for children.
There are over 85 million streamers on YouTube, so this list is far from exhaustive, but you can start with it. Please add your favorite streamers in the comments.
RadioJH Games
Audrey is the friendly and fun host of RadioJH Games , a YouTube channel dedicated to games for kids like Slime Rancher , Minecraft, and a ton of Roblox . She also creates Roblox role-playing videos with the group of famous YouTube streamers “The Taco Crew”. RadioJH Games has over a million subscribers and it’s easy to see why: Audrey’s passion for video games and her friendly personality shine through all of her videos, such as this walkthrough of the indie horror gameGranny . She is very outgoing and unpretentious, and comes across as an ordinary person who loves games, rather than trying to become famous on YouTube.
Felicia Day
Felicia Day, the epitome of gaming and nerds, has broken out of the PC fanbase in recent years and turned into mainstream entertainment, appearing on shows like the Mystery Science Theater 3000 and voicing cartoons like Adventure Time and Three Bare Bears , as well as also a bunch of writing and producing work. Even with all of his work, Day still manages to stream video games on the YouTube channel from time to time. She may not be updated as often as some game streamers, but her charisma and light-hearted style is infectious, and the way she balances between creator and consumer of computer media is mesmerizing. For example, watch this video about her interactions with herself inDragon Age: Mark of the Assassin : It’s completely meta. Note: While Day’s personal style is strictly PG-13, she does stream some M-rated games, such as Assassin’s Creed Odyssey .
GamingWithKev
If your child plays in Roblox, let him join to more than 4 million subscribers GamingWithKev . The GWK is constantly updating, highlighting all sorts of interesting Roblox content, adding streams of other games like Happy Wheels, Raft and even Super Mario Maker from time to time , all without swearing or negativity. Attractive, open style GWK instantly recognizable no matter what he plays, but he is best manifested by playing Robloksa horrors. Watch this cute little doll walkthrough video to see what I mean. Warning: There are some old “prank” videos on Kev’s channel, and while they’re not particularly egregious, if your kid is the type to mimic what he or she sees on YouTube, you can steer them away from this content. , or your laptop might end up in the pool .
Shubble
I love Shabbl ! Her charming channel has completely ditched “poignant” humor in favor of funny, fresh content suitable for all ages. Shubble’s game videos are mostly Minecraft and Roblox , with a few “Let’s Play” videos about weird internet games and indie games. Along with in-game broadcasts and Let’s Plays, Shabble brings viewers into her life by posting videos of her cooking attempts, her cat StarLord and many other fun things while maintaining a super-optimistic and infectious bubbly mood. Watch this video from her “How to Noob” series, where she tries to teach a friend how to play Minecraft .
Fernanfloo
It is for older children as well as games in which playing Fernanflo , often mature. Fernanfloo, A / K / A Luis Fernando Flores, El Salvador YouTube streamer known for his Lets Play videos and comedy scenes. He is one of the most popular YouTube streamers on Earth, with over 32 million subscribers and 6.8 billion views. Fern only speaks Spanish, but his videos are subtitled in English, so you can tell yourself that your child is learning a second language, or at least improving their reading skills while they watch his hilarious videos. Fernanflo’s overly caffeinated style and fierce energy may not suit everyone, but the kids seem to love it, and it has undoubtedly made Fern a lot of money. Fern recently switched most of their games from YouTube on Twitch, where he regularly broadcasts the stream, so check it out there where there is a fresh stream, after you have watched it hundreds of videos on YouTube.
