Hate the Twitter Redesign? Don’t Worry, You Can Go Back
Over the past few months, Twitter has unveiled its latest redesign for its desktop site. The new layout has a more compact and streamlined look and adds new features like image editing tools and bookmarking for tweets.
Not everyone is happy with the change, however, as the simpler design hides certain features and information behind other tabs and, according to anecdotal reports, seems to ignore certain personal preferences and fill your timeline with an excess of tweets from people you don’t follow. … While a different web client would be a better solution, there is a way to revert to the previous Twitter desktop layout if you prefer to use the main Twitter website.
Some users can manually enable the new layout by clicking their Twitter profile icon and selecting the Try New Twitter option at the bottom of the menu bar. If you’re not impressed with the changes, here’s how to go back:
- Open Twitter.com.
- Click your profile picture.
- Click Go to Old Twitter.
- You can then provide feedback on the changes and new features, or simply revert to the previous layout.
- If “Switch to Twitter Legacy” is not available to you, you can still opt out using this URL: https://twitter.com/i/optout
We should note that Twitter allowed users to go back to previous projects in the past, but this ability was always stopped and old designs were made unavailable. You can revert the changes for now, but we wouldn’t be surprised if this option gets removed in the future when the company finishes working on the new interface.
