Visit National Parks for Free This Saturday
If you are postponing a trip to one of the US national parks, then Saturday may be your day.
To celebrate the start of National Parks Week on April 20-28, all national parks that normally charge admission fees will admit visitors free of charge on Saturday. This means you can visit places like Joshua Tree, Yosemite, and Muir Woods just for a gas fee to get there.
If you don’t know which national parks are near you, this handy map from the National Park Service can help you. With it, you can click on your state and see at a glance which national parks are available to you where you are. Click the Basic Information link on the next page to find out what fees are usually associated with a visit to the park. While some parks are free, others often have a $ 10+ entry fee per person or car.
And if you had different plans for 4/20, Parks is offering the same deal for three more days this year: August 25, September 28, and November 11. You can schedule this vacation for approximately one of these dates.
Worth noting: People love free stuff, so expect more Saturday than usual, especially in popular parks. If you plan to arrive early, you will thank yourself when you see people fighting for parking and the long lines at the entrance at the end of the day.
