Store Kids’ Games Upright, Don’t Stack Them
My daughter has several shelves in her bedroom closet where she keeps her board games. I posted them because they are better than my previous method of organizing from nothing , but I quickly realize that they are far from ideal. If she tries to grab, say, “Hooting owl hooting,” and it ends up at the bottom of one of the shelves, the games at the top will collapse. Now that I think about it, this board game tower gives me a bit of anxiety.
Here’s the best tactic I’d like to switch to immediately: stack your child’s games, puzzles, and other toys in boxes vertically in boxes, rather than stacking them. Lifehacker writer Megan Walbert does it (her box is shown above) and she says it works well. The Everything in Place Facebook page also has a nice visual look.
It now makes sense in terms of gravity, and I love that it’s low enough for small children to reach. You no longer have to worry about the boxes tipping over. The last thing I need right now is a Candy Land injury.
