Find the Closest Scooter Quickly With This App
Admittedly, I didn’t want to accept the scooters that infiltrate our cities. In my neighborhood in San Francisco, you have to be on the lookout at all times to make sure an inexperienced rider isn’t going to mow you down on the sidewalk, and on weekends, the sidewalk is also often littered with piles of them. I hate them. But in my hometown in North Carolina, where there are significantly fewer of them, I see an attraction.
If you’re a responsible scooter rider, you know, one who uses the bike path and brings his own helmet with him, then scooters can make getting around a bit easier, especially in a city like San Francisco.
While the app of each scooter company can help you find one of their scooters near you, the Scooter Map app can help you find all the scooters that are currently available in your area, no matter which company is behind them. …
The app was originally made for contractors looking for a way to find scooters to pay for (most scooter companies pay individuals to charge scooters at their homes), but this week it rolled out a rider mode. You can also use the app to ride any Lime, Bird or Skip scooter, so you don’t have to launch another app to get on it. However, you will need to connect your account to Scooter Map in advance.
The app works for finding Bird, Lime, Voi, Skip, Jump, Lyft, Razor, Scoot, Wheels, GoX and Wind scooters. If you absolutely hate one of these companies (or several of them), you can filter them from the search results as well. By default, the map also displays scooters, e-bikes, manual bicycles, and mopeds. You can also filter them so that bicycles are not shown on the map, for example if you prefer scooters or vice versa.
There are definitely a number of applications now that some of these companies are integrated into (City Mapper is the best of them, IMO), but none of them have as many as Scooter Map. If you are a regular user of scooters or are starting to love them, then this is definitely worth paying attention to.
